I worked until the time to go and get my hair done and then I picked Jamie and Macy up to come down and play and sleep overnight.  We came down and picked up the lunch and the rest of the kids along with Wanda and Melissa.  We all went over to Riverside Park and had a picnic and the girls had a ball playing.  We came home and the girls got their sleeping bags rolled out on the living room floor.  By that time it was about 9:30 p.m. so I laid down and had a little snooze.  When I woke up around 10:30 they were still up having a late night snack.  Then they settled down and I didn’t hear anymore until the next morning.  I got up and fixed their breakfast.  We all went outside and mowed and watered the lawn.  They had a picnic lunch out under the tree on the lawn.  In the afternoon the five –Lisa, Amy, Katie, Macy and Jamie and Melissa, JoDee and Christine (Randall) and Cheney and Travis Allen were swimming in the irrigation ditch, first on Olga Hannum’s lawn, then on Nell Allen’s.  They played all afternoon riding their bikes, etc. until 5 o’clock and then I had to take Macy and Jamie home.  Macy was really unhappy and I had to do some tall talking to get her to go.  Needless to say, I had a rather strenuous time and was glad to go to bed but in the night I got really sick at my stomach and I went in the bathroom and lost all the corn and apples I had eaten for supper, but I felt better and I was able to get up and go to my meetings today.  I went to Steve and Jackie’s for dinner and later they took me for a ride up around East Canyon Dam then over into Henefer and into Coalville.  I hadn’t been up there for a long time and it was very, very enjoyable.  I spent some time this evening preparing for the Cultural Refinement lesson on Indonesia and Singapore for next week.

In Sacrament Meeting, I san with the choir and it was really beautiful. I never flattered myself into thinking I added anything to it but at least I didn’t detract from it. Then Keith and Faye Donna talked on “Our Heritage”. This was exceptional. As I was coming home from church I saw Lynn Hannum, Olga’s daughter-in-law. I haven’t seen her for a long time and it was a real pleasure. Pat called me in and gave me 2 baked potatoes, some hamburger patties and 2 slices of fresh, home baked bread. I had a very delicious dinner. I used the remainder of the day for writing in my journal, letters, reading and sleeping.

Well, today saw some great changes in Milton First Ward.  During the week, we got notice from the take Presidency that they are going to reorganize the Bishopric, which they did.  They released Bishop Stevens, Ned Mecham and Lee Nelson and sustained Marlin Brooks as Bishop, Gary Randall as first counselor and Ivan Rich as second counselor.  To me it as a shock because I’d never thought of Marlin in this capacity but I’m sure that the Lord knows what he is doing, and far be it from me to counsel him.  I’ll sustain them with my uplifted hand, my hart and my soul and I told them so.  Ned was appointed as a member of the stake high council.  I walked over to Steve’s tonight for an evening stroll.  The invited me to stay and eat supper with them – spaghetti and meatballs and shrimp salad.  All my resolutions went down the drain.  That’s some of my favorite food.

Turned out to be more of less a routine week until Friday night about 7:00 p.m.  I was watching a television show and there was the sound of a siren that I thought was on TV It got so loud, I looked out through the door and there was a real fire engine going by with all the red lights flashing and it looked like all the cars in Morgan were following it down the road.  It about scared me to death.  It turned into Brooks’ house just 2 houses down the road.  I couldn’t’ see any flames or smoke so I called Jackie to see if she knew what was going on.  She was the one who had called the fire dept. Sue and Marlon were away and the children (Nancy, Allan, Chet and Bart I think) had been down in the basement playing a TV game that was hooked up to the TV.  They came upstairs and left the TV on.  It got over-heated and exploded.  By the time Jackie called the fire dept and got over there, the black smoke was bellowing out of the basement and coming upstairs.  It ruined the downstairs completely and just about all the upstairs with the smoke, but fortunately no one was injured or killed.

My lesson a week ago on May 25 went over quite well.  Melvin Jeffery had been over there during his mission and he came in and really helped to make it interesting (Indonesia)

Looking back over the week I had several situations that made me realize how I am blessed because of paying my tithing.  I have been saving money for my trip back east this summer.  It’s been a great temptation to put money in savings several times so my money would be assured for the trip.  To do this I would have had to cut back on my tithing in order to do this.  I went ahead and paid my tithing and my other church obligations.  The necessary money for my trip has been bothering me.  The last 2 weeks have been very rewarding.  I received back from my federal income tax $165.50 from 1979 and a notice that I will receive $48.99 for 1978.  I received back $100.08 from the state, and then I received $100.00 from Blue Cross/Blue Shield for my medical expenses on my illness in 1979.  To me all these things are significant because I honored my responsibilities in my church commitments.

One of the enjoyable evenings during the past week was Wednesday when they had a dance revue.  Amy, Lisa, Kristine Randall, Jodee Randall and Nancy Brooks all participated.  It’s very remarkable how flexible their bodies are with the right type of teaching.  Lisa has improved so much during this past year I can hardly believe it.  Amy always seemed to have natural grace and ability.  Their confidence in their performance is amazing for their age.  Sher was also a part of the revue.  She is so grown-up I couldn’t’ believe it.  She’s such a beautiful girl and such a lady – like her mother.

The political scene gets more interesting all the time.  It makes one wonder how things will turn out this fall.  On Saturday I went to the temple and did 2 sessions.  In the afternoon I planted my flowers, tomatoes, etc.  I went over to Steve’s and they were planting their garden so I helped them finish.  It was enjoyable.

(Is she trying to say I was a bad dancer??)
