Today I am really thrilled over what I got done besides having 2 very spiritual experiences. About 1:25 this afternoon Deloy called me and said he was going to baptize 2 of his neighbor’s girls. Their name is Casey and the one is Sher’s age and the other one is Lisa’s age. Deloy baptized and confirmed them. I was so very proud of him and also all his family. Lisa and Amy went with me and I was proud of them; also, they looked so beautiful. Tonight I went to the women’s annual meeting and then I came home and stayed with the girls while Steve and Jackie went to the general session of our Stake Conference. The women’s meeting is always a rich experience to attend. I was able to sit with Jackie, which is always a pleasure. I went to Stake Conf. the next morning and it was an uplifting experience. I enjoyed the remarks of our Stake Presidency, also Peg & Jerry Allen who have just recently went and got their endowments. Both gave talks. I don’t recall anything really outstanding during the week that happened. On Tuesday night was John’s birthday and I went over and took a couple of plastic toys to him. Jackie had made him a darling birthday cake. The night before was Deloy’s birthday. I was going down to give him a present and he and Lynn were over to Steve’s. I gave him a book on priesthood and an “opal” that we brought back from Australia with us. He seemed very pleased with it.
Wednesday night was our Old Testament class with Bishop Stephens. I can’t comprehend such a memory as he has. Thursday I had to go to court and I guess that’s just about the worst day I’ve had to spend there. Randy and Cindy Peterson’s divorce action was on the calendar and it was a very heartbreaking experience to see Cindy’s father get on the witness stand and testify against his daughter and recommend that the children be left with their father.

It was Labor Day so I labored all day long. I finished my pears and on Tuesday evening I got a bushel of peaches. It was comm’s meeting all day Tuesday. There was a group came in on the Bookmobile. That is a real hot issue at the moment. It will be interesting to see hot it turns out. We (Betty Mecham and I) went down to the mortuary to the viewing of Bertha Anderson. Betty had written a tribute and it was beautiful.

Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday morning I did my peaches and finished my sweet pickles and did 3 pints of pears.

This weather I can’t believe. It was stormy over Labor Day weekend but the last few days have been just beautiful. I didn’t get out to church at all on Sunday. I had a sore throat that seemed to affect my ears and I really felt quite miserable. I really wondered how I was going to get through the coming week. It promised to be quite hectic and it wasn’t very far off from my predictions, but I managed to live through it. I always do.

Today was our first equalization day.  There were quite a few people who came to discuss assessed valuation on their taxes.  I’m afraid we are in for some hectic times before we get things finalized for this year.  These are very disturbing times but then that is what we have been promised for many centuries.  And in reading back through history this is just a repetition of many events that have taken place since the beginning of time.  Our problem is to endure this to the end.

Geneology Question

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lisa @ 7:23 pm

I have been contacted by someone hoping to find his father’s siblings. His father is Aunt Verla and Uncle Grant’s son. So, can someone e-mail me and tell me names and information on Verla and Grant, and their children.

Thanks!

Today, if Grandma was still alive, she would have celebrated her 92nd birthday. :)

We started out dept. work at 8:00 a.m. The highlight this morning was Bruce Hymas, Deputy State Auditor.  He was very relaxed and informal and we found he even has a sense of humor.  The knowledge and information which he gave to us was understandable, which was a switch.  Depts. Let out at noon and we were on our way home by 12:30.  Janis decided to go by way of Zion’s Canyon, which I’ve never seen before.  It is indescribable in its grandeur.  It was almost speechless as the panorama was laid before me in all its color and magnificence.  It makes me feel very insignificant to stand before God’s creations in all their glory.

We stopped in Nephi for lunch and got home about 8:30 p.m.  Needless to say I spelt the whole night thru and felt surprisingly well on Saturday.  The glorious weather continued over the entire weekend.  Sunday was more or less routine but very enjoyable.  They Dee Flitton family were here with their son who just returned from a mission.  Patricia Smith, a daughter, was there.  I was amazed at how she has grown and developed.  I taught her in Beehive class.
